New Seasons
So, I’ve had a crush for quite awhile, and I’m ready to go public….I love New Seasons grocery store.
I love it. I LOVE New Seasons. There is really nothing about the store that I dislike, and I could literally go there every day for lunch and then shop for odds and ends. The produce section is a gorgeous rainbow of happiness, the angels sing when I wander down the baking aisle, and I want to twirl down the alcohol aisle right to the cheese counter.
You’re probably thinking, if you love New Seasons so much, then why don’t you marry it? Well, other than the fact I’m happily married already, I probably would if I could.
I can ALWAYS find what I need there. Agave syrup? They have light and dark. Culinary lavendar? In the bulk section to be had for mere pennies. Organic produce that is locally grown? Please, give them something harder to accomplish.
The previously mentioned cheese and booze sections are truly a thing of wonder. All you have to do is look even mildly perplexed, and people magically appear, offering help. (And even better, samples!) All I have to do is say something like “I want an inexpensive Spanish red”, or, “I’m looking for the perfect cheese to make gourmet mac and cheese”, and the New Season’s employees graciously help every time.
There is a section for anything you could want, even things like candles, books, gifts. Their supplement section is something to behold, and if there is a vitamin or some weird supplement that you need, you probably can find it.
If nothing else, you can get a tasty, healthy lunch for fairly cheap. Today I got a half of a turkey sandwich (with avacado, cucumber, tomatoes, lettuce and hummus), a bowl of vegetable noodle soup, and some crazy ginger drink with live bacteria in it for just $9. The best part is, their lunch meat is all hormone free and local. YUM! And of course, we HAD to go shopping, and I found myself a nice compost pail for my kitchen for a mere $25, in addition to some baking odds and ends I needed.
New Seasons can be on the pricey side, but you get what you pay for. The stuff there is all local, quality stuff, and you can taste the difference in that.
So stop reading this, and go to New Seasons!!
